We’re building the best short-let cleaning team in the UK and Ireland, now in Edinburgh, Dublin and Liverpool and opening Glasgow, London and more next. You work with us as a self-employed cleaner: we find the properties and handle the owners, linen and supplies; you choose the cleans you want and get paid for each one.

Working for yourself usually means finding owners, chasing invoices and buying your own linen. We take that off you and pay you per clean, on time.
You choose your cleans
Cleans are offered to you in the app. Accept the ones that suit you, decline the rest, or take a whole regular clean in one tap.
Paid weekly, to your bank
We check the photos and pay every week through Stripe, with a statement for every payment. We write the invoices for you.
Linen and supplies ready
Clean linen sets and guest supplies are provided for each property, so you don’t buy or wash them.
Work for others too
You’re self-employed: work the days you want, and keep your own clients if you have them.
Grow with us
Team lead and inspector work as we open new cities. We ask our own team first.
The pay
What you get per turnover clean.
One bathroom included. Bigger or unusual properties are agreed with you before you accept. If two of you do a clean together, the fee is shared.

Accept
A clean is offered to you in the app with its date, address and fee. Accept it or decline it.

Clean and photograph
Do the clean, take the photos the app asks for, and mark it done.

Checked
The office checks the photos, usually the same day. If they don’t, your pay is approved by itself after 48 hours.

Paid
Approved pay goes to your bank through Stripe each week, with a statement you can download.

We use BedsReady, software built for hotel housekeeping. If you’ve worked in a hotel, it’ll feel familiar.

Short-let cleaner

What we ask
You’ll fit in if you…
- Have real cleaning experience: hotel housekeeping, holiday lets or serviced apartments, at least a year
- Notice the details: the hair in the plughole, the smear on the mirror
- Are reliable: once you accept a clean, the guest is counting on you
- Are self-employed, or happy to register (it’s free with HMRC or Revenue)
- Have the right to work in the UK or Ireland, and a smartphone

Questions
Before you apply
Am I employed by Lock & Clean?
No. You work with us as a self-employed cleaner. You choose which cleans you take, can work for others too, and look after your own tax and National Insurance. We send a statement with every payment, so you don’t have to write invoices.
How many cleans will I get?
It depends on the days you’re free and the season. August and match or event weekends are busiest. Tell us the days you like and we’ll offer you cleans on them.
Can I say no to a clean?
Yes. Decline it in the app and we offer it to someone else. Once you’ve accepted a clean, the guest is counting on you, so tell us early if anything changes.
When do I get paid?
Every week, for cleans approved that week. The office checks your photos, and if they haven’t within 48 hours your pay is approved by itself. Money goes to your bank through Stripe.
Do I need my own products or equipment?
Linen sets and guest supplies are provided for each property. Most properties have their own vacuum and kit.
Is my English good enough?
Good spoken English helps for talking with the office, and you can fill in the application in your own language.
